Why haven’t concerted efforts to address our global sustainability crises been more successful? Jennifer Hinton claims that it’s because we have not addressed the systemic roots of the problem. In this talk, she will offer: 1) an explanation of how the for-profit economy systemically drives both inequality and environmental degradation, 2) a vision of how a sustainable not-for-profit market economy could meet everyone’s needs within the ecological limits of the planet, and 3) some ideas of how to get from here to there.

Dr. Jennifer Hinton is a systems researcher and ecological economist. Her work focuses on how societies relate to profit and how this relationship affects global sustainability challenges.
